There are so many things a beautiful smile can accomplish. A smile can express the happiness and joy of the wearer as well as create a calming effect in those who observe it. It is a strong nonverbal form of communication that is vital to our ability to interact and relate to others. A beautiful smile can provide the self-confidence one needs to succeed and thrive. Creating beautiful smiles allows me to blend both the artistic and scientific parts of my profession to provide the best possible aesthetic and functional result for my patients.
My educational background started with my Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a minor in biochemistry and molecular biology from the Pennsylvania State University, where I graduated with Honors as the Marshall for Microbiology. I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I then received my Master’s in Oral Biology and Orthodontics Specialty Certificate from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery.
I enjoy staying active in the orthodontic community and continuing to learn new techniques. I am a board member of the Maryland State Society of Orthodontists, and participate in the Terrapin Study Club and Spear Education Study Club to keep up to date with the newest technologies and techniques for treatment. I also attend the American Association of Orthodontics annual meetings and the Mid Atlantic Society of Orthodontics meetings.
Outside of work, I love to spend my time with my two dogs Chloe and Allee, my family and friends, and training for my next athletic competition. I enjoy competing in all distance running events and triathlons. I am a member of USA Triathlon and designated as an All American and am on Team USA for sprint triathlon. I am also a member of the Mid Maryland Triathlon Club, the Howard County Striders, and Columbia Master’s Swimming Club. You can often find me at running around the trails in Columbia or at the Columbia Athletic Club or Columbia Gym.
